Our CABAS® accredited learning center in Baton Rouge provides specialized autism and behavioral intervention designed to unlock your child's unique strengths and build the foundation for a brighter future—one that continues redefining what’s possible for every child we serve.

What Makes BIG Different
Everything we do is grounded in three core commitments that define the BIG experience:
Why Families Choose BIG
Proven Results
Our science-driven, personalized approach ensures measurable progress in communication, social skills, and independence – the building blocks for a successful future.
Family-Centered Partnership
We believe parents are their child's first and most important teachers. Our comprehensive parent training ensures the skills learned at BIG extend into everyday life, creating consistency and accelerating growth.
Individualized Path to Success
No two children are the same. That's why every program is uniquely designed around your child's strengths, interests, and goals. Your child isn't just learning, they're embarking on a personalized journey to independence.
Compared to other schools for children with autism, BIG's intensive, classroom-based approach provides the comprehensive support needed for meaningful, lasting progress. Our therapy for kids with autism goes beyond traditional methods by incorporating peer models and real-world learning opportunities.

The Only Program of its Kind
BIG blends rigorous science, caring expertise, and a classroom community to help each child thrive. As the only CABAS®-accredited center in the Gulf South, we follow a proven system-wide approach that charts each child’s data, so teaching is always guided by solid evidence.
The Systematic Evolution of the Learning Environment at BIG
At BIG, we guide each child’s path to school readiness through a clear, step-by-step shift in learning environments. We begin with focused one-on-one ABA therapy where the entire day is spent providing and setting up learning opportunities to acquire foundational skills that are considered pre-requisites to more higher level skills. We continue to focus on teaching individualized skills while providing learning opportunities with peer models as appropriate.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science-based approach that helps children build meaningful life skills by understanding and improving behaviors that impact learning and development. Through positive reinforcement and compassionate care, our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)design individualized treatment plans that help each child reach their highest potential.
ABA uses positive reinforcement and data-driven decisions to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviors. At BIG, BCBA/ BCaBAs design each treatment plan and line therapists deliver daily instruction.
How BIG Prepares Children for School Success
At Behavioral Intervention Group (BIG), every child’s journey is met with care and intention.
BIG’s tiered system is designed to support kids right where they are, helping them build confidence, learn new skills, and take steady steps toward long-term success.
Tier One: One-on-One Support
Every child begins in a one-on-one setting. Here, individualized attention allows therapists to focus on communication, social, and daily living skills. This strong foundation helps children gain confidence before entering group environments.
Tier Two: The Hybrid Room
When children reach certain milestones—such as using language (verbal or with an AAC device), recognizing social cues, and demonstrating observational learning—they move into the hybrid room. This environment balances one-on-one support with small group learning, providing a safe space for practicing peer interaction and group readiness skills.
Tier Three: Developmental Pre-K
The ultimate goal is the developmental pre-K classroom, where children learn in a group setting with fewer supports, alongside peer models. This classroom mirrors a traditional preschool, with circle time, centers, and small group lessons tied to Louisiana standards. With ages three to four in this setting, children practice navigating real classroom routines and expectations.

We use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) guided by the CABAS® methodology. Each child’s program starts with an assessment, then a BCBA crafts individualized goals. Line therapists implement one-on-one lessons, and we collect data every session. BCBAs review that data daily and refine teaching strategies to ensure steady progress.
The readiness by the time a child leaves BIG varies child by child. Our clinical model facilitates a child to move through different learning environments that evolve as they acquire skills. Children initially learn in a classroom where they focus on the foundational skills 1:1 with their line therapist. Once they are ready, they move to a hybrid classroom where they learn higher level skills including group skills and classroom routines with 1:1 support from their line therapist. We also have an inclusion Preschool classroom that provides the children who are ready with the opportunity to learn skills alongside typically developing peer models. The goal is to provide children with the necessary learning
experience to allow them to successfully transition into kindergarten or first grade.
