ABA Therapy for Children With Autism | BIG

Behavioral Intervention Group (BIG) is a BCBA-founded and run learning center that provides a unique Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experience to children on the autism spectrum ages eighteen months through seven years.

As the only CABAS® accredited site in the Gulf South, BIG utilizes a research proven system-wide approach that is designed to promote effective and efficient teaching and learning. Research over the last four decades has shown that through the various components set forth by CABAS®, children learn at much faster rates and develop language and social skills quicker. BIG's unique classroom-type learning environment, which maintains a 1:1 child-to-therapist ratio fosters this progress as well. Our program is an intensive full-time ABA program which runs Monday through Friday year round. Each classroom is overseen and led throughout the day by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who ensures that children's individualized programs are progressing and makes any changes that may be beneficial for the child.

These BCBAs have low caseloads in order to ensure that all children are making progress toward their goals.

The environment at BIG also provides children with learning opportunities to interact with typically developing peer models. Peer models at BIG exemplify appropriate social, communication, play, speech, language, motor, and classroom readiness skills for children enrolled in our ABA program.

Children learn in a classroom environment that is positive and aims to encourage the love of learning and encouraging activities while offering each student the opportunity to move at his or her own pace. As children progress through the classrooms at BIG, their ABA programs are modified to resemble and have similar expectations of a typical classroom. This is done with the goal of successfully integrating our children back into school.

BIG's children benefit by learning from some of the highest qualified ABA professionals in our area.

The staff at BIG understands what it means and takes to work here. It is more than just a job for them; they exhibit an outstanding amount of passion as they walk through those doors every day.

As employees of BIG, not only do they have a Bachelor's degree, but many of them are pursuing a Master's in ABA.

With their desire to grow in the field of ABA and at BIG, they are happy to fulfill the professional development requirements which in turn greatly benefits the children who attend BIG.

Parents are kept in the loop when it comes to their child's progress. Quarterly progress meetings are conducted with the family, so they can see how their child has progressed from quarter to quarter. There are also parent training programs which give parents support as well as the tools needed to achieve steady progress. While many ABA providers in the area have waiting lists, BIG is excited to share with parents that currently there is availability in most classrooms! Open since 2007, BIG continues to redefine what's possible for their children, their families, and their team.
